U Police are investigating an alleged rape that occurred on upper campus this week.

The incident, classified as a forced sexual assault by the department’s public records, took place between 5 and 7 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Sage Point 813 dorm building.

Sgt. Garth Smith with U Police said the university currently cannot release more details on the case.

“There’s nothing I can say right now because it’s definitely an active investigation,” Smith said.

He is not sure when the investigation will be completed. The Daily Utah Chronicle submitted a records request and will update the story when more information becomes available.
