The Daily Utah Chronicle is the student newspaper of the University of Utah. The Chronicle publishes 15,000 free copies five days a week during fall and spring semesters, excluding breaks and test weeks. Funding comes from advertising revenues and a dedicated student fee administered by the Publications Council.
The Chronicle's student journalists are solely responsible for all editorial content, under the direction of the student editor in chief. The editor in chief is responsible for the day-to-day functioning and overall editorial content of The Chronicle. She hires and directs the senior editorial staff and works with the business and advertising staff. She receives all comments and criticism directed at The Chronicle. The editor is selected yearly by the Publications Council.
The Chronicle has won numerous local and national awards, including second place in the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence awards for Best All-Around Daily Student Newspaper in 2007 and third place in 2008.
The Chronicle employs more than 100 students during the course of the school year in various full- and part-time positions. To get involved, contact the appropriate editor.
