I love how multiple people have mentioned America's history as a justification of what they are entitled to. The fact that America had slavery does not justify affirmative action. That was what the Civil War was about. We paid that price with 600,000 American lives. Still not good enough? When will we no longer need affirmative action? What is the milestone that America can someday hope to achieve, when we can stop paying for the sins of our past? (Note - Only blacks were involved in slavery, but this is offered to ALL minorities. Why?)The answer: never. You can never get a realistic answer to this question, because its not about achieving equality anymore. Its about getting preferential treatment for certain groups. No matter what steps are taken, some groups will always complain about discrimination. Well everyone is discriminated against, but only you can complain about it and get legal remedies. How does this promote equality?
