King of the Hill

After 20 years at the helm of Ute athletics, Chris Hill is still at the top of his game
King of the Hill
Chris Hill cringes when he thinks back to two decades ago when he first landed the job of U athletic director. "It makes me shudder a bit that I didn't flinch more," Hill said, who admits now that he had no idea what he was getting himself into. Hill, who was only 37 in 1987 when he became athletic director, was thrust into a position in which he would be held accountable -- deservedly or not -- for the wins, losses and reputation of every varsity team on campus.… Post the First Comment

RMR: Jazz, Brown spoil Durant's Revue debut
TAYLORSVILLE - They say you can't teach height. Watching the blur that that ate up the Seattle Sonics on Tuesday night, it's safe to say you can't teach speed, either. The Sonics had no answer for Dee Brown, who finished with 10 points, 10 assists and only four turnovers, as the Utah Jazz blew by their opponents en route to a 102-88 triumph in what was easily the most-hyped game of the Rocky Mountain Revue thus far.… Post the First Comment

Wizard forward adds to RSL's woes
Road trippin'
The MVP for the Kansas City Wizards is pretty obvious. With his game-winning goal Saturday night, Eddie Johnson solidified that notion even further. Johnson returned from a six-game absence, in which his team went winless, to guide his club to a 1-0 finish over Real Salt Lake at Arrowhead Stadium.… Post the First Comment

RMR: 76ers stay unbeaten in the Revue
TAYLORSVILLE - For three quarters, the Philadelphia 76ers toiled with the San Antonio Spurs. It turns out they were just toying with them. Louis Williams, Thaddeus Young and the 76ers kicked it into fifth gear the moment the fourth quarter whistle sounded.… 1 Comment

RMR: Running of the Bulls
TAYLORSVILLE - No Tyrus Thomas. No Joakim Noah. No big deal. The Chicago Bulls had just enough firepower to overcome a sluggish first half and, eventually, the Atlanta Hawks 85-79 in Bulls' Rocky Mountain Revue debut. Without last year's fourth overall pick in Thomas and this year's ninth pick, Noah, the Bulls struggled early to find their rhythm.… Post the First Comment

RMR: Millsap dominates, but Jazz lose again
TAYLORSVILLE-The Rocky Mountain Revue featured a rematch of the 2007 Western Conference Finals. Well, sort of. There was no Tim Duncan, Tony Parker or Manu Ginobli playing for the Spurs. The Jazz were also lacking their firepower, but the result during the conference finals was still the same as the Spurs dropped the Jazz by the final score of 75-71.… Post the First Comment

RMR: Taking the Law into his own hands
TAYLORSVILLE-The Rocky Mountain Revue is not the NBA Finals. No surprises there. But what is surprising is that the intensity level players are playing at in the Revue is fit for that stage. Former Texas A&M guard Acie Law is one of those players taking it to that level.… 1 Comment

RMR: Sixers stay perfect at Revue
TAYLORSVILLE-The Philadelphia 76ers' summer league team got its third-straight win of the Rocky Mountain Revue Monday. The Sixers handed the Bulls an 88-77 loss-a score that was much closer then the game actually was. The Sixers lead by as many as 21 and completely dominated the Bulls from the get go.… Post the First Comment
