Chronicle's view: Finally, a pledge for climate neutrality
It's about time. In June of 2007, The Chronicle published an article on a campus climate pledge that U President Michael Young had yet to sign ("U hasn't joined campus climate pledge," June 18, 2007). The pledge, which would have the U work toward climate neutrality by doing an emissions inventory and then develop a plan within two years of how it would work toward the neutrality, had been signed by every other Utah university until now.…

Letter: U used to be hot spot for big-time bands
Editor: Back in the day (2006), I was the Concerts Chair for the Presenters Office ("Concerts should feature bands students want," Chase Straight, April 18). In my year, I brought Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco, Yo La Tengo, Jurassic 5 and Violent Femmes. I fought hard for U concerts, and it makes me sad to see the quality of shows go downhill.…

Editor: To quote Janice Kopaunik's column ("Dress for college success," April 18): "If you want to be respected, dress the part." I don't have to look at Janice to know that she is not respectable for judging her fellow students as she has, and even more so, for encouraging them to do the same.…
