The Daily Universe

In the Aug. 26 article, "Dealing with roommates is a struggle for many students," The Universe reported: "When asked about difficult roommate situations, most students immediately start chuckling to themselves and say, 'I've got a good one!'

"Then, they proceed to tell a story of how they suffered through a semester with the worst roommate imaginable."

Their wife(s)!

Also on Aug. 26, in the article, "Managing time is crucial for new students," The Universe reported: "When freshmen are thrust into the college scene, most lack proper time-management skills and don't quite know how to handle the pressure." Just like their football coaches.

Also from The Universe, in the Aug. 31 article, "Escaping monotony: Fun ways to fill your schedule," the newspaper reported, "After a long summer break of fun and sleeping in, many students struggle to get back into the monotony of exams and papers."

The article suggested a few classes students can take to meet their interests, such as fly fishing, basket weaving, home buying basics and floral design. But most students are signing up for scripture-bag making, the art of annoying Ute fans and how to fake being a virgin.

Weber State University

The Signpost

In the Aug. 31 article, "Ron McBride begins legacy at Weber State University," The Signpost reports: "WSU hopes to have a record-breaking crowd on hand to help start what WSU hopes to be a long tenure here."

Unfortunately, a local Pee Wee football game is scheduled at the same time and is expected draw an even larger crowd because that coach knows what he's doing.

Also on Aug. 31, in the article, "Students protest, support president," The Signpost reports that Neil Brandvold attended the protest with some friends. He said "I think it was interesting to see that there were 2,000 like-minded people in Utah, and they say it's the reddest state, or the most conservative state, but there is a voice of reason in this state."

But after being called a "nut cake" by Orrin Hatch, Brandvold saw the light, repented, sent Bush an apology, registered for the draft and began watching Bill O'Reilly.

The Journal

From the Aug. 28 article, "Wishes echo in town," The Journal reported that NBC's new reality series, "Three Wishes," chose Cedar City as the fourth of its 10 cities that would grant wishes to three residents over the course of four days.

"Andrew Glassman, 'Three Wishes' executive producer, said the town was selected for its charm and personality."

And not because Tom Welch was bribing him.
